Today, Mantle of Krevnost is officially a project.
The first playable build is already live — very rough, very early — but the foundations are there. You can explore the world, fight mobs, flee from battles (and sometimes die trying), upgrade your castle and watch your new heroes inherit stats from it. It's messy. It's a super early alpha. And I couldn't be more excited about it.
What is Mantle of Krevnost?
Krevnost is a dying world. The sun rises paler each morning, the old kingdoms have crumbled and from cracks in the earth emerge things no living elder has ever seen. Every player leads a House — a dynasty of heroes sharing a castle, a name and a pact with a mysterious entity called Greymantle, who guarantees one thing above all else: no member of your House will ever die permanently.
It's a browser-based 2D MMORPG, top-down pixel art, in the vein of old-school MMOs like Margonem — but with a much darker tone and a narrative that actually goes somewhere.
Where it stands right now
The alpha is rough around the edges, but the core loop is already in place:
- Turn-based combat with initiative, skills and a full rounds log
- Flee mechanic — works properly now, including edge cases like dying on a failed escape attempt
- Castle system — buildings upgrade over time and unlock new hero slots
- Resource production — mines and workshops tick even while you're offline
- New heroes scale with castle level from the moment they're created
There is a lot missing. There is no quest system yet, no Main City social hub, no trading, no guild system. The UI is functional but not pretty. This is genuinely a super early alpha and I mean that.
What's next
The roadmap is long, but the nearest milestones are:
- Main City — the shared social hub all players enter from their castles
- Quest system — story and side quests, the first Echo memory fragments
- A UI pass that doesn't make me wince
If any of this sounds interesting to you, the dedicated project page is live at miyazakitakara.ovh/mantle-of-krevnost — it has the full world lore, the gameplay loop breakdown and a link to the alpha itself.
Feedback, ideas and bug reports are all genuinely welcome. The world of Krevnost is still being shaped. Other languages may be added down the road — but for now, English is the one true tongue of Krevnost.
